VLSC 2025 Annual Membership Agreement

I understand that my 2025 VLSC Membership includes the following requirements:

Covid-19 Waiver (All members)

I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that I and or any minor children of mine may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending the VLSC ("Club") and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the Club may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, Club employees, volunteers, and program participants and their families.
I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to me or any minor children of mine (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my family may experience or incur in connection with my family’s attendance at the Club or participation in Club programming ("Claims"). On my behalf, and on behalf of any minor children of mine, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless the Club, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the Club, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Club program.

Boat Storage (Active and Senior Members only)

I must pay a storage fee for each boat that I store on the club grounds. I am NOT allowed to store paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, or any other non-sailing vessels.
I must mow the grass under my boat on a regular basis.
I must keep my boat and trailer in operating condition and in neat, "ship-shape" appearance.
I must keep a waterproof identification tag on my trailer or rack space.

Work Hours (Active, Senior, and Associate Members)

I must perform a minimum 10 work hours, or 5 hours as an Associate Member, by December 1 each year. If I do not fulfill this requirement, I will pay $50 for each hour missed.
Work hours can be fulfilled by participating in scheduled work parties, assisting with club regattas and social events, or by completing individual tasks approved by the Port Captain. Work hours cannot be taken for mowing under my boat.
I am responsible for recording my work hours in the Work Hours Log.

Race Committee (Active and Senior Members)

I must perform two race committee assignments each year. If I do not fulfill this requirement, I will pay $50 per assignment missed.
If I am unable to perform my scheduled race committee assignment, it is my responsibility to find a replacement.

Dues (Active, Senior, and Associate Members)

Membership invoices are sent in December and I must make payment by January 1.
If I want to use a graduated payment plan, I must submit a plan to the Treasurer prior to January 1. If I am delinquent in my payments, my membership may be cancelled.

Resignation

If I decide to resign from the club, I must notify the Membership Chair in writing, pay any balances due on my account, and remove my boat.

Miscellaneous

I must close the front gate after entry and turn padlocks back to 0000.
I must not give anyone outside my household the gate combination.
If I invite guests to the club, I must be present at the club while my guest are at our facility.
If I am the last to leave the club, I must turn off the lights, close the breezeway door, turn off the furnace, leave the kitchen clean, lock all locks, and make sure the gate is closed.
If I use the club, I must make sure it is kept neat and clean for the next member.
I must maintain a valid email address on record with the club
I cannot bring pets to the club.

I understand that the VLSC Board has the right to revoke my membership if I do not fulfill these requirements.
